Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Fellowship is within the Department of Neurology and the Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s and Neurodegenerative Diseases at the University of Texas Health Science Center (DBA UT Health San Antonio).

This is a two-year, APPCN-member fellowship designed to provide hands-on training in clinical neuropsychology for independent practice while also allowing successful trainees to obtain board certification in clinical neuropsychology.

Clinical Experience

Outpatient neuropsychological evaluations takes place within the patient practices of our Department of Neurology and the Biggs Institute. Our patient population is large and diverse as we are the largest civilian academic medical center in South Texas and a partner of the county health system.

We primarily treat:

  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Vascular cognitive impairment
  • Other neurodegenerative diseases, like frontotemporal dementia and Lewy Body dementia
  • Epilepsy
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

Didactic and Research Opportunities

In addition to weekly supervision with faculty, weekly didactics are held in collaboration with UT Austin Dell Medical School’s neuropsychology fellowship. Other regular and encouraged didactic opportunities include grand rounds and case conferences held across the Department of Neurology, the Biggs Institute and the South Texas Veterans Health Care System. These are described in detail in Section IIIa of the program brochure.

Trainees are also required to have research productivity and there are multiple opportunities, including ongoing trials and research projects and access to repositories. For more information, refer to section IIIc in program brochure.
