Sokratis Charisis, MD, a researcher at the Glenn Biggs Institute at UT Health San Antonio, studied data from the long-running Framingham Heart Study and confirmed that people with high levels of LDL (often called “bad” cholesterol) are not only at greater risk for heart disease — they’re also more likely to develop dementia. This discovery highlights the importance of managing cholesterol for both heart and brain health.
